What better location to spend Christmas, while away from family, than an oasis of vineyards in Argentina.
We could not have been happier with our accommodation, after being picked up by our hosts at the airport and taken to our hideaway cottage.
Spending four nights, including christmas, it was the perfect place to relax, create food and enjoy drinks.

David provided incredible hospitality, on the first night he invited us to accompany him to the town centre for a wine and music festival. We ate, drank and danced the night away, then snuck away nearing midnight to rest.
In Mendoza we definitely discovered, and became accustomed to siesta's. Shops, markets and people disappear anywhere from 1pm through to 5pm. We ended up doing the same, laying in the backyard pool, sleeping under the shade or just relaxing in our cottage.
We joined David on Christmas Eve for grocery shopping. He invited us to join him and some friends for an Eve dinner. We brought together a selection of barbecue meat, salads and dessert. The friends brought wine and some snacks.
The evening was beautiful, we were thankful his guests practiced their English with us.

David was kind enough to share his time with us and we had a couple of meals with him and his father in law, Roberto. Roberto had a small farm in rural Argentina and we enjoyed sharing photos and stories with him through David's translation. We felt like a small unrelated family, but it definitelly made Christmas special, being able to share the time with others.
It was difficult to leave Mendoza, after we experienced a small piece of home there and even more difficult because our plane had a mechanical fault and couldn't take off until 9 hours after it was scheduled. After a day in Mendoza airport we were glad to finally reach Buenos Aires and our small appartment there, ready for a new chapter and excited for a new year!
